Roots and Reckoning: Juneteenth and 1917 ESTL Commemoration 2025

In recognition of Juneteenth and the 108th commemoration of the 1917 East St. Louis Race Massacre, The Community Archive, Metro Historic Tours, The Sunshine Cultural Arts Center, and The
East Side Arts Collective will join forces to present a cultural remembrance initiative designed to honor the resilience of Black communities, illuminate untold histories, and uplift intergenerational voices through storytelling, art, and education. Anchored by three core public programs: a guided 1917 Race Massacre Tour, a Descendant Panel and Oral History Listening Event, and a multimedia Art Exhibit featuring archival photographs, history, and visual art, this collaborative effort will activate both historical memory and creativity.
